The AIGC-produced drama "Journey to the West: The Aftermath" premiered on Mango TV's prime-time slot on August 31, marking the first AI-generated long-form series to air on mainstream television. It achieved over 1.96 billion online exposures and boosted Mango Excellent Media's stock by 45%. The 30-episode series, each 40 minutes long, was completed in under five months at a fraction of typical costs. The production team of about 100 people was restructured into four groups, with AI handling frame generation and creative collaboration, including redesigning a villain based on AI-generated character dynamics. The project utilized Mango's self-developed AI platform, which required custom solutions for animal lip-syncing and character stability.
