Agibot begins mass production of humanoid robots in China
Agibot, a start-up founded by a former Huawei employee, has begun mass production of humanoid robots. The Shanghai-based company has manufactured 962 units for commercial use as of December 15, marking a significant milestone in its two-year development. Founded by Peng Zhihui, Agibot aims to compete in China's growing robotics market. The company is backed by major investors, including BYD and Hillhouse Investment, and focuses on robots for both household and industrial tasks. The competition in China's robotics industry is intensifying, with local governments offering support and other firms also entering the market. Recent developments include subsidies from Chongqing and a five-year plan from Hangzhou to promote robotics.
