After Qarabag win, Ukraine legend backs Lonwijk to start for Dynamo Kyiv

Dynamo Kyiv defeated Qarabag 1-0 on Thursday in the Conference League third qualifying round, taking a first-leg lead in the tie. Matviy Ponomarenko scored the only goal, while midfielder Justin Lonwijk deliberately did not tap the ball into an empty net. Former Ukraine international Ivan Hetsko said Lonwijk has the talent to become a starter, but must improve consistency. Lonwijk joined Dynamo in 2022 but failed to establish himself and was sent on loan. If Dynamo advances, it will face the winner of Twente versus DAC 1904 in the next round.
