African Swine Fever Hits 10 Ukrainian Regions, Pork Supply Stable

obozrevatel.com (Ukrainian) —

Ukraine has confirmed 16 cases of African swine fever across 10 regions as of October 1, 2026, but the agriculture minister says pork will not disappear from stores, with retail prices down 8% year-on-year. The number of confirmed cases is lower than the 40 recorded during the same period in 2025. Of 39 suspected cases, 23 were ruled out, while confirmed cases included four in household farms, seven in wild boars, and two in industrial farms. Live hog prices are forecast at 72-73 hryvnias per kilogram, while retail pork costs 211-212 hryvnias per kilogram. The disease remains a serious threat to farmers, as infected herds must be culled, though current data shows no significant price surge.
