Acquigny, Eure, closes Lake Onglais to public for tree felling

Access to Lake Onglais in Acquigny, Eure, will close to the public from Monday, August 17, 2026, due to felling of trees posing a fall risk. A municipal decree will ban access during the entire forestry work. Preventive felling will occur on communal and neighboring private land, with traffic prohibited 24/7. Walking, fishing, and leisure activities are suspended. Exceptions apply to emergency vehicles, municipal agents, farmers, and authorized residents. Officials apologized for the summer disruption but stated safety remains the priority. New trees will be planted as part of the project, and the public will be informed when the lake reopens.
