President Marcos has appointed Abdulraof Macacua as the new Interim Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). He replaces Ahod Ebrahim, who has led the region since its establishment in 2019. Macacua is currently the acting governor of Maguindanao del Norte and also heads the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces. His appointment was confirmed by the Presidential Communications Office. Macacua will lead BARMM until the new parliamentary elections on October 13, 2025. The elections were postponed from May to October, and the current Bangsamoro Transition Authority will continue in a holdover capacity until then.
