Abbott recalls millions of glucose monitors due to faulty sensors causing incorrect readings

Faulty Abbott glucose monitors are linked to seven deaths and hundreds of injuries due to incorrect low glucose readings. Approximately 3 million FreeStyle Libre sensors were affected by a production error. Abbott advises discontinuing use of affected devices. The issue could lead to dangerous treatment decisions for diabetes patients. Abbott is replacing faulty sensors and expects minimal supply disruption.
