AI finds 1,000+ new solar system objects with citizen help

AI identified over 1,000 new solar system objects in old Hubble images with the help of citizen scientists. NASA has found 1.3 million space rocks, mostly between Mars and Jupiter, with millions more likely undiscovered. The study in Astronomy and Astrophysics revealed 1,031 new asteroids. Citizen scientists trained the AI to detect faint streaks of light left by these small space rocks in Hubble images, providing insights into their characteristics.
