6-year-old Malakai found safe after overnight search in South Auckland

A 6-year-old boy named Malakai was found safe after an urgent overnight search in South Auckland, where temperatures dropped near freezing. Multiple search and rescue teams located him following his disappearance. Malakai left his home after a family argument, telling relatives he was going to Rainbow’s End. He was last seen wearing a red Mickey Mouse T-shirt, grey pants, and no shoes. His grandmother alerted police at 7pm when he failed to return. Search teams, including a dog handler, scoured areas along the Puhinui Stream and Wiri Stream Reserve. Police noted Malakai typically stayed close to home, scooting around his road or nearby park.
