3D map of human brain tissue created with Google AI
Researchers created a 3D map of a small piece of human brain tissue, revealing 57,000 neurons, 9 inches of blood vessels, and 150 million synapses. The map, constructed by Harvard and Google researchers, is at a nanometer scale, the highest resolution achieved. The brain fragment was from a 45-year-old woman's cerebral cortex. The map is available online and contains surprises like neuron connections and axon formations.
