Upgrading to 2.5GbE networking may not significantly improve home network speeds for most users. Many common tasks, like streaming 4K video, do not saturate current 1GbE connections, making the upgrade unnecessary. Bottlenecks often lie elsewhere, such as with storage or internet service.
