25 rescued, two missing after four tankers hit mines in Strait of Hormuz
Four oil tankers, including a supertanker carrying over two million barrels, struck mines and caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz, with 25 crew rescued and two fishermen missing. Iran's Revolutionary Guard said the tankers exploded Friday on unauthorized routes after disabling navigation systems and ignoring warnings. Oman evacuated 25 crew from a Panama-flagged vessel, while the UK Maritime Trade Operations reported a separate strike by an unknown projectile. The incident follows Iran's control of the waterway since the US-Israel war began February 28. Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordered an "immediate, impactful and geographically unrestricted response" to any US attack, as Qatari diplomats arrived in Tehran for talks.
