13-year-old with rare condition climbs Snowdon for Birmingham Children's Hospital

Skye Good, a 13-year-old with a rare genetic condition, climbed Mount Snowdon to raise £530 for Birmingham Children's Hospital, which has treated her since age three. Her family expressed pride in her achievement. Skye has an SDHD gene mutation causing hereditary paraganglioma-pheochromocytoma syndrome, which risks head, neck, and adrenal gland tumours. She undergoes yearly checkups, blood tests, and MRI scans, with her mother noting the hospital's vital support. Skye said she wanted to help children with more serious illnesses access treatment, as the hospital sometimes lacks funds. She completed the climb on August 24, with donations still being accepted online.
