13-year-old denies targeting elderly dog walker before attack

A 13-year-old girl is on trial for her alleged involvement in the death of an 80-year-old dog walker named Bhim Kohli. The trial is taking place at Leicester Crown Court. Mr. Kohli was attacked while walking his dog in Franklin Park on September 1, 2024. He suffered serious injuries and died the next day from a spinal cord injury. The girl, who was 12 at the time of the incident, denies charges of manslaughter. She is accused of filming the attack while laughing and is alleged to have targeted Mr. Kohli. Prosecutors claim she took a photograph of him a week before the attack, which she kept on her phone. During cross-examination, she admitted that she took the photo but insisted she did not keep it to target him. In court, the prosecutor questioned the girl about her actions leading up to the attack. He suggested she recognized Mr. Kohli when she saw him in the park on the day of the incident. The girl acknowledged that she saw him but denied pointing him out to the 15-year-old boy accused of the attack. The boy is facing charges of murder and manslaughter. The prosecution pointed out that the time the photograph was taken matched the time when the girl and her friends entered the park on the day of the attack. Despite this, the girl maintained she did not know Mr. Kohli would be there. The trial continues as the jury considers the evidence.
