Walkscape combines fitness with gaming in new RPG

Walkscape is a new fitness-focused RPG developed by Schamppu, inspired by RuneScape. Unlike traditional MMOs, it rewards players for walking in real life, allowing them to level up their characters without intrusive ads or microtransactions. Initially a college project in 2022, Walkscape has grown into a four-person team. It aims to motivate players to exercise while enjoying a fantasy gaming experience, appealing to both MMO fans and players of GPS-based games like Pokémon Go. Currently in development, Walkscape is fully playable with feedback from tens of thousands of players. The team plans to enter open beta in early 2026 and launch the game in 2027, focusing on enhancing players' physical well-being.
