Ukrainian Railways reports 7.2 billion hryvnias in net losses and proposes freight tariff increases

Ukrainian Railways reported 7.2 billion hryvnias in net losses for January-September. The company proposes a 41.5% increase in freight tariffs next year. This increase is planned in two stages to offset the loss of 49% of freight traffic since 2021 and to stop subsidizing passenger services. The company is also requesting budget support to cover losses, citing war-related damage to infrastructure and the halt of mining operations.
