TeamSTEPPS® communication training in Turkish ophthalmology operating rooms shows mixed results

A study in Turkey found that a TeamSTEPPS® communication module did not significantly change teamwork perceptions among ophthalmology operating room staff. The mixed-methods study used questionnaires and interviews to assess staff before and after training. While quantitative scores showed no significant difference, qualitative data revealed themes of team cohesion, support, leadership, and communication. Participants found the training helpful for verifying understanding and avoiding errors, highlighting the need for regular reinforcement of communication skills in healthcare.
