A study found GLP-1 weight-loss injections were associated with a 41 percent lower risk of developing 13 obesity-related cancers than diet and exercise alone. Researchers analyzed U.S. electronic health records of over 160,000 matched obese adults without diabetes or cancer, comparing GLP-1 drug users with lifestyle intervention over about two years. Largest reductions appeared for endometrial and colorectal cancers. The findings, published in Annals of Oncology, are retrospective and not proof of causation; authors say medication should accompany lifestyle changes and physician consultation. No significant breast cancer reduction was seen.
