Taiwan donates $300,000 to North Carolina disaster relief for Hurricane Helene
Taiwan has donated $300,000 to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund to aid recovery from Hurricane Helene. This contribution is part of a larger $800,000 commitment to support affected areas in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia. The N.C. Disaster Relief Fund, established after Hurricane Floyd in 1999, has been reactivated multiple times for disaster recovery. As of now, the fund has raised nearly $11.5 million for local nonprofits assisting storm victims. This donation marks a notable instance of foreign government support for North Carolina disaster relief, as the governor's office is not aware of previous foreign contributions.
