Supreme Court declines plea against school entry restrictions in Rajasthan, UP

The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to hear a petition challenging restrictions on outsiders, journalists, and social media users entering government schools in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, stating it was not inclined to entertain the writ petition. The petition, filed by Priya Mishra, contested circulars requiring prior approval for entry and recording in schools, arguing these infringe fundamental rights including freedom of speech. It cited orders from Rajasthan and several Uttar Pradesh districts, including Ayodhya and Agra. The case gained attention amid the 'School Thik Karo' campaign by the Cockroach Janata Party, which exposes poor school infrastructure. Haryana has also imposed similar restrictions following campaign visits, with officials citing the need to protect children's privacy and safety.
