Supreme Court acquits police officers of official misconduct in domestic violence case

Two police officers were acquitted of official misconduct by the Supreme Court for failing to report a domestic violence incident. The officers responded to a domestic dispute in June 2022 where a woman bit a man. They did not file a report, classifying the incident as harassment, which is not mandatory to report. The Supreme Court ruled that while the officers were negligent, their actions were minor and therefore not punishable, overturning a previous conviction by the Court of Appeal.
