The movie follows a man who buys an AI android to cope with his wife's death. Directed by Kate Dolan, the plot sees the man accidentally turn the harmless robot into a deadly "soulmate". The film received mixed reviews, with only 55% approval on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics have compared it unfavorably to better productions like 'Companion'. The theatrical cancellation followed the poor box office performance of 'M3GAN 2.0', which earned about $39 million globally compared to the original's $180 million. The sequel's US opening weekend brought in just $10.2 million, less than half of the first film's debut.
