Sea temperatures around Mallorca reached 31.7°C on Sunday, prompting tourist complaints about abnormally warm water described as bath-like. Measurements showed 29.9°C off Andratx and 29.6°C at Playa de Palma. The Balearic Sea exceeded normal levels on 186 of 187 days in 2026, including 25 record days. Scientists link heat stress to unusual seagrass blooming. Warmer water raises fish metabolism, making them less shy and more likely to approach shore.
