Russia investigates tourist deaths during a Murmansk trail race

The head of Russia's Investigative Committee has requested a report on the investigation into the deaths of two tourists during the "Sportfest Hibiny – 2025" trail race. The investigation concerns the deaths of a 1963-born woman from St. Petersburg and a 1978-born man from Moscow. An investigation into the race organizers has been opened for providing unsafe services, leading to multiple deaths. The organizers were warned about unfavorable weather conditions. Another group of unregistered tourists also faced a dangerous situation in the Lovozero mountains due to severe weather.
