Rewe and an investor acquire Feneberg supermarket chain, saving 3,000 jobs

Rewe, with an investor, will acquire the insolvent supermarket chain Feneberg, saving its 72 stores and most of its 3,000 employees. The decision was made after Rewe's offer was deemed more attractive to creditors and employees than Edeka's. Feneberg had an annual turnover exceeding 500 million euros. Rewe will take over about half the stores and a bakery, while the remaining stores will continue under the Feneberg brand. Most employees are expected to retain their jobs.
