Psilocybin temporarily restores speech and mobility in advanced Alzheimer's

A woman in her 80s with advanced Alzheimer's temporarily regained speech, mobility, and continence after taking psilocybin mushrooms, a case report shows. She had declined for a decade and used only single words. Hours after a supervised 5g dose, she spoke spontaneously, recalled memories, walked more independently, dressed herself, and regained urinary continence; a later 3g dose had similar effects. The report is not evidence psilocybin reverses Alzheimer’s: no control group, biomarker confirmation, or standardized testing. Researchers caution against unsupervised use and call for controlled studies.
