PSD picks Hugo Carneiro and Andreia Neto for inquiry into Neves' mandates
Portugal's Social Democratic Party (PSD) has nominated deputy spokespersons Hugo Carneiro and Andreia Neto to the parliamentary inquiry committee investigating Luís Neves' tenure as head of the Judicial Police, with Neto serving as the party's coordinator. The committee, forced by the Chega party and chaired by that group, will have 25 members distributed by parliamentary representation, with the PSD holding eight seats. Other PSD members include Marco Claudino, Francisco José Martins, Bárbara Amaral Correia, Paulo Edson, Gonçalo Valente, and Sandra Pereira, with Gonçalo Capitão and António Rodrigues as substitutes. Neves has been Interior Minister since February 2026, and the inquiry covers his entire 2018-2026 period as Judicial Police director. The committee excludes the PAN and BE parties, and members must be sworn in within 15 days of the official publication.
