Prisoners riot, severely damage Prato's Dogaia prison
A violent riot erupted in Prato's Dogaia prison on Saturday, causing significant damage and requiring specialized intervention. Inmates used beds as battering rams, barricading themselves and destroying property. The Osapp police union reported the riot involved about ten inmates in the medium-security section. They destroyed furniture and damaged security features, leading to the recall of off-duty staff and specialized riot control units. The union criticized the prison's management, citing problematic inmate transfers and inadequate facilities as contributing factors to the unrest. They called for investigations into the causes of the riot and the regional management's practices.
