Parental attitudes toward alcohol influence college binge drinking

Parental attitudes toward drinking before college are linked to students' binge drinking habits, a WSU-led study found. Students from homes with more permissive views on alcohol are more likely to binge drink and join Greek organizations, which are also associated with higher risks. The research suggests interventions targeting parental permissiveness and clear communication about drinking risks could reduce college binge drinking.
