New Jersey crash kills driver, injures passenger

A driver died Saturday morning when his car veered off Route 47 in New Jersey and struck a tree. A passenger was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accident occurred around 6 a.m. in Middle Township when the northbound Toyota Camry driven by 52-year-old Javier Ayala lost control. Police closed a section of the highway for about four hours while investigating the crash. The surviving passenger, also 52, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-Mainland. Authorities have not released details about the extent of her injuries.
