Near Nice, millions of cubic meters of potable water leak into the sea

Millions of cubic meters of potable water are being wasted into the sea near Nice due to a century-old, neglected canal. A major reconstruction project, costing thirty million euros, began in May 2025 and is expected to be completed by 2030 to stop the significant water loss. The old canal, built in 1904, has never been maintained, leading to massive leaks. The new infrastructure aims to conserve water resources for the region.
