NDMC chairman proposes vehicle-free Inner Circle at Connaught Place

NDMC Chairman Manoj Dwivedi proposed making Connaught Place's Inner Circle vehicle-free for fixed hours, seeking public feedback on the pedestrian-friendly initiative. He posted the idea on X on Thursday, inviting suggestions on timings and activities. Dwivedi suggested two possible schedules: 6 pm to midnight in summer and 11 am to 4 pm in winter, while also asking whether the area should remain vehicle-free all day. He requested input on how the space could be used during no-vehicle slots. The proposal builds on the existing "Raahgiri@CP" experiment, which opens the Inner Circle to pedestrians on select Sundays for activities like walking, cycling, fitness sessions, and street performances. A regular schedule could expand this pedestrian-focused use.
