NATO chief says Ukraine lacks leverage to negotiate with Russia
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that Ukraine is currently not in a strong position to negotiate with Russia. He noted that Ukrainian forces are outgunned and outmanned, limiting their leverage in discussions to end the war. Rutte emphasized the importance of Ukraine gaining strength before any negotiations can take place. He expressed concern that a favorable deal for Ukraine is crucial, as the outcome will impact global powers like China, North Korea, and Iran. Despite acknowledging Ukraine's current disadvantage, Rutte suggested that future changes could improve their negotiating position. He indicated that a strong Ukrainian stance is necessary for meaningful discussions with Russia.
