Murder accused found in Bihar jail after three years on the run

An accused in the 2023 murder of lawyer Umesh Pal, with a ₹5 lakh reward on his head, was found in Gaya Central Jail in Bihar after being considered absconding for over three years. He will be brought to Prayagraj on transit remand on Monday. Armaan was arrested in a separate firing case in Gaya soon after the February 24, 2023 killing of Pal and his two police security personnel, and remained in judicial custody there. Prayagraj Police recently verified his identity during a visit to the Bihar prison this week. Armaan, a Gaya native, allegedly returned to Bihar after the murder and later surrendered in a local firing case. CCTV footage allegedly shows him driving a motorcycle with co-accused Guddu Muslim during the attack, and police claim he was a sharpshooter for slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed.
