Mumbai filmmaker Rakesh Roshan says daughter Sunaina's illness battle inspired his optimism

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan revealed that his daughter Sunaina battled cervical cancer, brain tuberculosis, and liver disease, saying her courage inspired him to face hardships, including his own cancer diagnosis. Roshan was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2019 and was shot in Mumbai in 2000. He said Sunaina’s lifelong cheerfulness taught him to stay positive, joking with family even during his recovery to prevent despair. He spoke during promotions of documentary series The Roshans last year, crediting wife Pinkie Roshan as his support system and saying he launched son Hrithik only after he turned 24.
