Modi meets Bihar and Madhya Pradesh leaders after bypoll losses

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with JDU chief Nitish Kumar and Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday, following the BJP's electoral losses in the Bankipur and Datia bypolls. Kumar, recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, met Modi in Parliament House in what was termed a courtesy call, with discussions reportedly covering Bihar's development and the political situation. The meeting came after the BJP lost the Bankipur seat, ending its nearly three-decade hold on the constituency. Modi also met Chouhan after Congress retained the Datia assembly seat, defeating the BJP's candidate by 6,016 votes. The result was seen as a setback to the BJP's candidate-selection strategy in the Gwalior-Chambal region.
