Mitsotakis plans permanent pension boost and half 13th salary for public workers
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is planning two permanent income measures for the Thessaloniki International Fair: a higher annual pensioner benefit and a half 13th salary for public sector workers. The pensioner allowance could rise to around 400-450 euros annually, potentially linked to the national pension level. The half 13th salary would be a permanent annual payment, marking a gradual restoration of lost income rather than a full return to previous pay structures. These proposals aim to create a four-year roadmap for income support, with increases tied to fiscal space. The government seeks to establish a permanent mechanism for income enhancement, avoiding one-off handouts while addressing demands from pensioners and civil servants.
