Michel Leblanc to run for Quebec Liberals in Marguerite-Bourgeoys

Former Montreal Chamber of Commerce CEO Michel Leblanc will run for the Quebec Liberal Party in the Marguerite-Bourgeoys riding in the next provincial election. The riding, a Liberal stronghold in southwest Montreal, was left vacant after incumbent Frederic Beauchemin chose to run in Brome-Missisquoi. Leblanc said he was inspired by Liberal leader Charles Milliard, whom he met during his time at the chamber. Leblanc spent 16 years leading the Montreal chamber before leaving in spring 2025, with prior roles at Genome Quebec and Montreal International. He has criticized the CAQ's treatment of Montreal and its immigration policies, and wants to boost the city's influence with decision-makers.
