Former Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was fined $100. This stems from a May traffic stop in her hometown of Fairmont, West Virginia. Retton, 57, admitted guilt to the charges on Tuesday. Police stopped her after reports of erratic driving. A judge issued the fine, following sentencing guidelines for first-time, non-serious offenses. Retton stated she takes full responsibility for her actions. She became the first American gymnast to win the all-around gold at the 1984 Olympics. She also recovered from a rare form of pneumonia in 2023.
