Manoj Jarange alleges Maharashtra cancels caste certificates; Bawankule denies

Maratha activist Manoj Jarange alleged Maharashtra is politically cancelling caste certificates; minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule rejected the claims, asserting no government interference is possible. Jarange accused the government of conspiring to weaken the Maratha movement by cancelling Kunbi certificates, alleging Bawankule directed officials. Bawankule insisted the caste scrutiny committee operates independently as a quasi-judicial body beyond ministerial control. Jarange demands Marathas be recognised as Kunbis for OBC benefits and warned of electoral revenge in 2029. Bawankule noted aggrieved parties can appeal committee orders to the Bombay High Court.
