Maharashtra launches state-wide cancer screening and awareness campaign
Maharashtra has launched a state-wide cancer screening and awareness campaign, aiming to make the state cancer-free. The initiative, announced on World Cancer Day, will provide services to all citizens aged 30 and above. The campaign focuses on screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Health Minister Prakash Abitkar highlighted the impact of urbanization and reduced physical activity on health, stressing the importance of public education. Statistics reveal India has 1.5 million new cancer cases each year, with 800,000 deaths. The event also featured the release of a cancer health service booklet and recognized healthcare workers for their contributions.
