Lyme disease reactivation leaves woman bedridden

A young woman's life has been drastically altered by Lyme disease, reactivated by a COVID-19 infection. Maia Pavey, 27, is now bedridden with severe fatigue, pain, and numbness, a year after contracting COVID-19, which is believed to have awakened a dormant tick-borne infection from her teenage years. She was diagnosed with Lyme disease in December 2024, after a year of unexplained symptoms. While currently bedridden, IV antibiotics have shown some improvement, and she hopes for future remission.
