Lavrov and Jaishankar strengthen Russia-India strategic partnership
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with India's Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a "specially privileged strategic partnership." The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation across all areas of practical interaction between Russia and India. Discussions also included plans to further activate collaboration within BRICS, particularly in light of India's upcoming presidency in 2026. The meeting took place alongside other discussions Lavrov had with foreign ministers from Brazil and Iran. The talks highlighted the positive outcomes of the current Brazilian presidency of BRICS.
