Kenyan MP Ndindi Nyoro explains his refusal to back Gachagua impeachment

Kenyan MP Ndindi Nyoro said he refused to sign the impeachment motion against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, citing personal conscience over political considerations, a decision that strained his relationship with President William Ruto. Nyoro told Citizen TV that he informed Ruto directly of his refusal, explaining he would not participate in the process. He also avoided activities surrounding Gachagua's successor's installation, and was subsequently removed as chair of the National Assembly Budget Committee. Gachagua was impeached by Parliament in October 2024 on 11 grounds, including constitutional violations. Nyoro has since formed the People’s Party of Kenya, while Gachagua is building a political base ahead of the 2027 election.
