Indian Railways implements OTP verification for Tatkal train ticket bookings

Indian Railways now requires passengers to provide a mobile OTP to book Tatkal train tickets at reservation counters. This measure aims to prevent misuse of the last-minute booking system. The OTP verification is conducted after the passenger receives a code on their provided mobile number. This system, initially piloted on select trains, will soon be implemented for all trains to ensure fair access for common users. This OTP-based system follows previous measures like mandatory Aadhaar verification for online Tatkal bookings and restrictions on general ticket bookings for non-Aadhaar authenticated users.
