India boosts rail infrastructure budget for states including Delhi and Bihar in 2025-26
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a significant increase in the budget for rail infrastructure in 2025-26, with allocations for states like Delhi, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh rising dramatically compared to 2009-14 levels. Delhi's budget has surged from Rs 96 crore to Rs 2,539 crore, while Bihar's has increased from Rs 1,132 crore to Rs 10,066 crore. Many states have achieved 100% electrification, with plans for complete electrification by the end of the fiscal year. Vaishnaw highlighted the rapid construction of new tracks, noting that 1,832 km have been built in Bihar since 2014. The installation of the Kavach safety system is also progressing, with plans for nationwide implementation in the next six years.
