How to Stop Window Condensation With Simple Household Items

news.telegraf.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

Condensation on windows can be prevented using simple household items, according to a Ukrainian news report. The buildup occurs when warm, moist indoor air meets cold glass surfaces during the heating season. The report recommends applying shaving foam to dry glass and wiping it with a microfiber cloth to create a hydrophobic film. A mixture of glycerin and alcohol in a 1:10 ratio also works, as the alcohol evaporates while glycerin leaves a protective layer. Placing small containers of salt, baking soda, or silica gel on windowsills can absorb excess moisture from the air. These natural absorbents help reduce humidity levels near the glass surface.
