Helio Castroneves prepares for Daytona 500 challenge as NASCAR rookie
Helio Castroneves, a four-time Indianapolis 500 winner, is preparing to compete in the Daytona 500 next month. At 49, he has never driven a NASCAR stock car and last raced on Daytona's oval 20 years ago. Castroneves secured a ride through Trackhouse Racing after winning a race in the Superstar Racing Experience. He is now focused on learning the NASCAR style, including pit road procedures, which differ significantly from IndyCar. To prepare, he is using simulators, testing at Talladega, and racing in the ARCA season-opener at Daytona. If successful, he could join the exclusive group of drivers who have won both the Indy 500 and Daytona 500.
