Grand Rapids nightlife thrives as popular meteorologist retires after 44 years
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Bridge Street has become a popular nightlife destination, especially on Thanksgiving Eve, which is known as the biggest bar night of the year. The area is attracting more visitors looking for festive activities. Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park launched a new holiday light display called "ENLIGHTEN," featuring a one-mile pathway of illuminated decorations. A 36-foot Christmas tree was also installed in Rosa Parks Circle for the holiday season. WZZM-TV's longtime meteorologist, George Lessens, retired after 44 years on air. Additionally, the first phase of Eastpointe Commons, a $40 million affordable housing project, has opened, providing 62 units for low-income residents in Grand Rapids.
