Germany invites exploration of its UNESCO World Heritage sites
Germany celebrates World Heritage Day today, with the UNESCO inviting the public to explore its 54 designated sites. These sites include churches, industrial monuments, and forests. The day features over 350 events across Germany, including tours and activities at sites like Cologne Cathedral and the Wadden Sea. The central opening takes place in Hildesheim, a city with two UNESCO World Heritage sites. The UNESCO World Heritage list includes over 1,200 sites worldwide, with decisions on new additions, such as King Ludwig II's castles, expected in July. Some sites are transnational, like the Beech Forests of Germany.
